Gregory Moore & his Cosmopolitan Orchestra Bookmark and Share
presented by ScoBar Entertainment

Singer/bandleader Gregory Moore has had a long and varied career in music, ranging from grand opera (Metropolitan Opera, New York City Opera) to his current affiliation with the music of the 1920's and 30's, which he performs with his 12-piece, 1930's-style dance orchestra, The Cosmopolitan Orchestra. Gregory debuted his orchestra in January of this year at a sold-out performance of a centenary tribute to the 1930’s “crooner,” Russ Columbo, Living in Dreams: The Russ Columbo 100th Birthday Tribute. The Cosmopolitan Orchestra’s goal is to recreate the original charts of the 1930’s with the original instrumentation of the era and an ear toward authenticity. Gregory Moore and his Cosmopolitan Orchestra opened this year’s Cabaret Convention at Rose Hall (home of Jazz at Lincoln Center) and made his Algonquin Oak Room debut the same week. The Dorothy Loudon Foundation presented Mr. Moore with their very first “encouragement” award at the Cabaret Convention for his “dedication to preserving the scintillating sounds of the dance bands of the 1930’s and 40’s”. Variety wrote of their performance at Rose Hall, “…With the sophisticated flavor of a Fred and Ginger film excerpt….Moore crooned ‘Prisoner of Love’ in a fashion that recalled the early balladry of Bing Crosby and Russ Columbo”.
